The photo that started it all. ..
When Karen brought Anthe this photo, she breathed new life into Karen’s concept, weaving historical inspiration into a modern design- creating a world that bridges past and present.
Karen DeMaria came to Anthe with a small photo of a window in her daughter's new condo, from a small church with stained glass windows in North Philadelphia.
That photo ( pictured above right) sparked a two year creative journey, beginning with an invitation for her daughter's housewarming party ( above left and available through link) and growing into one of a kind watercolor renderings, hand painted furniture pieces, and dining room murals inspired by an oriental rug. It all culminated in a wall installation, a stained glass window rendered on a wooden base, its layered painting glowing with light on the landing where it hangs. Karen's vision guided every step, and Anthe breathed it into life.
Advancing Possibilities Through
Proven Projects
Here is the last of the projects in the portfolio folder. It was 4 ‘ x 10 ft high as it is getting installed on the wall and in the landing between the first and second floor of her own condo.
Close-up showing the many layers of paint, pearlescence, glass beads and gossamer and texture to create the stained glass effect on the wooden painted boards.
Anthe hand-painted miniature landscape of Panayia Prouso in Greece . This was a place that Anthe had painted from her travels and Karen wanted set into a metal frame for a necklace. So they collaborated and Anthe created this for Karen .
Watercolor rendering that hangs in Karen’s dining room and was used as inspiration for the wooden installation piece that installed and is pictured to the left and below.
