The Gallery Studio 103 Juried High School Show and Exhibition
As the owner of Gallery Studio 103 and an artist of some sort since the age of three, Anthe Capitan-Valais, told us that she often pondered as how she got here. What where the steps that were pivotal to why she became an artist, making it a lifelong career. “Every artist needs a moment of belief.” she said. When asked why this… why a high school art showcase for sophomores? This is what she explained, “ When I was a sophomore, an art teacher saw potential, I didn't see in myself and challenged me to prove that I was serious about art. That belief changed everything. Years later, as founder of Montgomery County Guild of Professional Artists, and a working artist I felt it was important to give back and encourage our youth. So for me that meant creating a countywide high school art show for juniors and seniors. The response was overwhelming—parents told us how deeply encouraged their children felt, how it validated their artistic identity at a critical moment. To my knowledge after more than twenty years that organization and art show still continues today.
"After relocating to Naples five years ago, I've become deeply rooted in this community. Just as I gave back to my Philadelphia area high school artists through McGOPA, I'm committed to enriching young artists here in Southwest Florida. But I realized something: that encouragement needed to come earlier. Before majors are chosen. Before paths are locked in. Before sophomores wonder if they belong. The Gallery Studio 103 Juried High School Show and Exhibition pays that forward— offering the encouragement and opportunity every serious young artist deserves."
